The Postgraduate Diploma in Health Professions Education and Leadership is designed to develop world-class education in the field of Health Sciences, with the required skills to lead health professional education in the 21st century. The fields that will be covered include leadership and mentoring in health professions education, instructional design in health professions education, project management and evaluation, and education-based innovation research.

- A relevant degree at NQF Level 7 or equivalent qualification in health sciences

• Certified copy of South African Identity Document (South African citizens only) / official passport (foreign students).

• SAQA and USAF verification as it is required for verification of recognition of foreign qualifications.

• Certified academic transcript(s) of training from a previous educational institution or FPD at the same NQF Level.
• Study guide that supports the credit claim at the same NQF Level.
The following supporting documentation must be included if you are applying for RPL:
• Testimonials/reference letters from previous or current employers.
• Portfolio of Evidence of your work experience and skills equivalent to an NQF Level.
• Full curriculum vitae indicating employment history and work experience in relevant field.

This programme will run over 18 months and is split into modules that are eight weeks long. This includes seven weeks of study and a one-week break.

Leadership approaches are examined with particular emphasis on organisational culture, management of change, and the development of relationships. Development of a reflective portfolio is essential to the successful completion of this module.

This module provides students with the skills and knowledge to lead change initiatives. Students will explore the principles of change leadership and conflict resolution. They will learn how to effectively communicate change, mobilise support, and navigate resistance to drive successful organisational transformations. By the end of the module, students will have the tools and techniques to lead change initiatives with confidence and manage conflicts with tact and diplomacy.

This module looks at designing assessment activities which are valid and reliable. The content will cover how assessment drives learning and will explain the key features of good or bad feedback. By the end of the module, students will be able to develop effective assessments and formulate improvements to current assessments and feedback practices.

"Curriculum" refers to the activities and material being planned, developed and prepared. This module will focus on the key steps that need to be followed when designing learning outcomes and how learning programmes should be organised. By the end of this module, students will be able to revise and renew a curriculum.
